Meet the Artist

Hello!
My name is Jo Ann Massey and I live in the suburbs of Southern California in the city of Lake Forest. I'm a self-taught cloth doll artist, drawing on my tolé painting and sewing skills to create my character art dolls. After 22 years in the Real Estate business I found my passion for dollmaking when making dolls for friends and family. My dollmaking developed from a love of textures and colors within a piece of fabric. Fabric seems to speak to me. I like the diversity that dollmaking allows me. To me, the ultimate form of expression is combining all my skills into one art form. When my dolls bring a smile to someone's face I feel have accomplished my goal. I love meeting my customers and other dollmakers at shows and gatherings, and making new friends.
